Installing Default Folder X

Simply run the Default Folder X Installer, click through the first few startup windows, and then click the "Install" button. The installer will place a Preference Pane named "Default Folder X.prefPane" in the following location:

Once the preference pane has been installed, follow the instructions in The Default Folder X Preference Pane.

Uninstalling Default Folder X

If you've tried Default Folder X and decided it's not for you, it's very simple to uninstall. If you still have the Default Folder X Installer, you can simply run it again and click the "Uninstall" button. If you don't have the installer, open System Preferences and turn off Default Folder X if it is turned on, then throw the Default Folder X.prefPane file in the Trash. It is located in the PreferencePanes folder within the Library folder in your home directory, as shown above. This completely removes Default Folder X from your system, leaving your system and applications untouched.
